Men’s endeavor to look beautiful has been existent since the beginning of history. Regardless of historical and geographical differences the paradigms of beauty still remains the same. With regards to women a full-developed breast has been considered a part and parcel of her beauty. But all women are not blessed with round curvy breast. However modern science has brought to us the wonders of surgery and having the kind of breast you like has now become a common
phenomenon.
Due to the kind of traditional mentality prevalent in the Indian society breast implant is still to take off in a wide scale as compared to western societies. Another problem is that it has still not been able to shrug off the cosmetic image; as a result there is no specific standards in India.
At present the Indian market for breast implants is minuscule in comparison to the European market but with the increasing purchasing power of the Indian middle class and the change in perception among the masses the future looks rosy.
There are more than 200 implants taking place in Delhi alone everyday but there is no regulatory authority existent in India except the European unions CE benchmark. However use of implants like Silimet, which doesn’t have CE benchmark, is also rampant in India. Silimet although popular due to its price and easy availability but its use is fraught with danger because there has been several instances where its silicone had oozed out. Silimet implants are priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000, Nagor implants between Rs 24,000 and Rs 31,000 and Laboratories Euro silicone implants between Rs 16,000 and Rs 23,000.
